The “Sounds of Islam” gala dinner concert at IIF 2008 in Dubai will feature big names in the international Nasheed devotional music genre including Made-in-Malaysia nasheed group Raihan (official website here) and homegrown talent from the United Arab Emirates, Ahmed Bukhatir (official website here).
Raihan draws their name from an arabic word that means ‘Fragrance of Heaven’ and the group have been spreading their heavenly “perfume” across the globe since it was formed in October 1996. Originally comprising five members with Nazrey Johani, the late Azhari Ahmad as leader, Che Amran Idris, Abu Bakar Md Yatim and Amran Ibrahimm, Raihan currently members remains a quartet. Che Amran as the leader with Abu Bakar, Amran and Zulfadli. Raihan pioneered contemporary Nasyeed to win many awards and recognition. They now travel the world spreading inspirational words of peace to all people, Muslims or otherwise.
Ahmed Bukhatir was born in Sharjah where he studied and lived all his life. He graduated in 1999 from Al-Ain University and he achieved the bachelor degree in management information system. He started singing in 1989 and his albums reached a wide fame within a short period of time. His first solo album was released in November 2001. From his albums : Fartaqi and Samtan which had very high sales in different countries in the world, plus the albums Entasaf al Lail and Al Quds Tonadeena which he participated in with other singers. Ahmed Bukhatir gains big popularity in the Gulf area and the Arab world and seeks to spread all the Islamic thoughts to the entire world through the aiming words and the soothing melody and the distinguished performance of his.
