International Islamic Fair 2008 Will Be in Yemen
KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 17, 2008) – The International Islamic Fair 2008 (IIF2008), will be in Al-Mukalla, Yemen and has been merged with the “Industry-Yemen’s Future” Conference & Exhibition in what will be the biggest Malaysian commercial delegation to the Republic.
IIF organising chairperson Madam Sabariah Abdullh said: “The decision to move the IIF2008 to Yemen comes as a blessing in disguise as we were invited to merge with the planned Malaysian-Yemeni event.
“We have be bringing our exhibitors to join the Malaysian business delegation led by chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Malaysia Ali al-Attas and will also include participation of the former Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
For this purpose, the IIF2008 will be brought forward to 22-23rd Dec (from 23-25th Dec.) but will still include a trip to Dubai on 24 Dec. for business matching.
Also present at the briefing was Dato’ Fauziah Alias, executive chairman of MY Malaysian Synergy Resources Sdn Bhd, co-organiser of the Yemen event, who described Yemen as a land of business opportunity as the nation was actively pushing for industrialisation in preparation for inclusion into the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Sabariah said the Malaysia-Yemen event is receiving maximum support from President of Yemen HE Mr Ali Abdullah Salleh and has received wide coverage by the local media as it coincidences with the Yemeni Industries Conference organised by the Yemeni Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mukalla.
Yemeni Prime Minister Dr. Ali Mohammed Mujawar will chair a discussion on Yemen’s industrial plan. In addition, the delegates will be able to interact with Tun Dr Mahathir and the Yemeni officials during these dialogues.

IIF2008 GETS BOOTH SPONSORSHIP BOOST FROM MECD
KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 3, 2008) – The International Islamic Fair 2008 (IIF2008) received a boost from the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Co-operation Development (MECD) with the sponsorship of 20 booths in the trade exhibition.
To be held in Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from 23 to 25 December 2008, most of the 20 sponsored booths of IIF2008 have been taken up said organising chairperson Madam Sabariah Abdullah.
“We are grateful that this year MECD chose IIF2008 as a trade event that fulfills their initiatives at creating entrepreneurs who are successful both locally as well as at the global level.
“As this is the first time that the IIF is traveling to a foreign destination after two successful events held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), we are very happy to get this show of support from the MECD.
“In addition, qualified exhibitors are also eligible for financial support from the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) under the Market Development Grant (MDG) for promotion activities for the development of export market.
“As the IIF is recognised by MATRADE as an international event based in Kuala Lumpur but held overseas in a Muslim country every alternate year, SMEs have another source of financial support,” she added
Sabariah was speaking at the Exhibitors Briefing organized to assist travel, logistics and other preparations for participating companies that was held today at the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC) on Jalan Ampang today.
The annual IIF event brings the trademark “three-in-one” concept of trade exhibition, conference and dinner concert, blending intellectual discourse, business networking and sociocultural interaction.
With the motto “Islamic Products & Services for ALL” and conceptualised to foster business-to-business and people-to-people contact and cooperation, IIF is aimed at addressing issues such as worsening interfaith relations, inter-cultural conflicts, the widening gap between rich and poor, rising immorality and violence, as well as damage to the environment.

TUN DR. MAHATHIR MOHAMAD TO SPEAK AT THE INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC FAIR 2008 (IIF2008) IN DUBAI WORLD TRADE CENTRE
KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 28, 2008) – Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will headline an extraordinary lineup of key opinion leaders who have confirmed their attendance at the International Islamic Fair 2008 (IIF2008).
Tun Dr Mahathir will deliver the closing keynote address at the “Sounds of Islam” Gala Dinner Concert at the end of the three-day event to be held from 23 to 25 December at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
The annual IIF event brings the trademark “three-in-one” concept of trade exhibition, conference and dinner concert, blending intellectual discourse, business networking and sociocultural interaction, said IIF organising chairperson Madam Sabariah Abdullah.
She said, “As honourary President of the Perdana Leadership Foundation, Tun Dr Mahathir’s insights could empower the good people of the world, both Muslim and non-Muslim, who share the view of “serving the ummah and saving humanity” – the official theme of the international conference.
With two successful previous events held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), the IIF is recognised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) as an international event based in Kuala Lumpur but held overseas in a Muslim country every alternate year.
